Professor Michael Kennedy to give 2014 Tip O’Neill Irish Diaspora Award Lecture

“American Military Overflights, Irish neutrality and the build-up to D-Day”.

 

“American military overflights, Irish neutrality and the build-up to D-Day” will be the theme explored by Professor Michael Kennedy in his special lecture on Saturday 13th September 2014 at 11am in the Sliabh Sneacht Centre, Drumfries, County Donegal, as part of the Tip O’Neill Irish Diaspora Award range of events.

 

Professor Kennedy is the Executive Editor of the RoyalIrishAcademy's Documents on Irish Foreign Policy series.  He is the author of a wide range of books on twentieth century Irish political, diplomatic and military history including Division and Consensus: the politics of cross-border relations in Ireland 1925 - 69 (Dublin, 2000) and Guarding Neutral Ireland: The Coast Watching Service and Military Intelligence, 1939 - 45 (Dublin, 2008).  He is a member of the Irish Manuscripts Commission and the RoyalIrishAcademy's Committee for International Affairs and an adjunct Associate Professor of History at University College Dublin.

The Lecture takes place in the Sliabh Sneacht Centre, Drumfries, Co Donegal on Saturday 13th September 2014 at 11am. This lecture is open to the public and is free to attend.
